I went on hiking on one weekend again, and I had no idea for a lunch place in North and West Vancouver. I saw a post on Facebook from a restaurant downtown the night before, which they started serving cold Udon noodles. So, I decided to go there, although it was almost 5pm and late for lunch.

Sushi Zero One is in a walking distance from Waterfront station.

I ordered from their new cold Udon menu.

(Yamakake (grated mountain yam), Okura, Wakame seaweed, and green onion on top)

There are mini, large, or mega sizes to choose. This is regular one.

When I told them that Okura tasted strange, not only did they offer another cup of Okura, but they also offer to make a whole thing as new. I asked just remove ones in the bowl.

I have known this place for long time, and it was the oldest Izakaya (Japanese tapas bar) that I know in Vancouver. I remember that I walked in by myself and had Oden (Japanese soy-base stew) when I visited Vancouver from the other city, as I hadn’t had real Japanese food for a while.

Gyoza King is famous for Gyoza (dumplings) as it’s named. It is located in West End of downtown Vancouver.

Collin wanted to eat a lot of Gyoza, so we just ordered Gyoza for lunch.

Oolong Tea
(Cold one came, which Collin didn’t expect. I’m not sure if they had hot one, too.)

Here are some pictures in the past, when I went there with my friend and her baby.

We ordered Kimchi Chahan (fried rice), Asari Udon (Udon noodles with clam), and two kinds of Gyoza.

My friend couple and I went hiking in North Vancouver and talked about where we can grab lunch. It was Sunday and we were not familiar with the area, so we decided to go to Sushi Kimura, a Japanese restaurant in East Vancouver.

My friend’s husband ordered Tempura Udon noodles and rice balls.

My friend ordered from special, Black cod Combo. It comes with black cod, Yakitori (chicken skewer), Sashimi, assorted Tempura, and small plates.

I also ordered from special, Tekka-don served with two small plates, Chawan-mushi (Savory steamed egg custard in cup), and Miso soup. I was interested in Black cod combo as well, but I couldn’t help having Chawan-mushi. Tekka-don is a Donburi, rice bowl that sliced red tuna (Maguro) is on top.
