In early December, Collin said he wanted to go a Chinese restaurant in Chinatown, where we went a while ago and liked their food. They don’t take a reservation, so we just headed to the restaurant. When we arrived, there were a lot of people inside standing, and we realized there was a note on the door, saying closed for private function. Sigh. We came all way down here and couldn’t go. We headed back to Stadium station and were thinking about an alternative.

Collin said he wouldn’t mind eating Sushi, so we went to Tsuki Sushi Bar. It is on Abbott street, close to Pender. They serve mainly Sushi, and I don’t think they have any deep-fry stuff.

We ordered from their regular and special menu.

I liked Abbot Roll, which consists of Tuna, BBQ salmon, skin, lettuce, cucumber, mayo and Masago. We didn’t like their Dynamite Roll last time and totally forgot about it. We still didn’t like it. Their Dynamite roll was torched with Tsuki sauce.

Nigiri and Gunkan Sushi

We are not a fan of Uni, sea urchin, but since it was on special, I ordered one. It was fresh, so I didn’t mind eating it.

Torotaku Roll, Kappa Roll, Rainbow Roll, Kani Special Roll

I liked Torotaku last time, so I ordered it. It is a combination of Toro and Takuwan (pickled Daikon radish). Kani Special Roll was good. It contained real Dungeness crab. I’m not sure if I liked Rainbow Roll, although we ordered last time, too. I wouldn’t order it next time.

We were full, but he had already decided to order this dessert since he saw it on their special menu.

Mochi Ice Cream 2pcs

Mochi Ice Cream 2pcs at Tsuki Sushi Bar in Vancouver

This is ice cream inside covered by Mochi (pounded sticky rice). There were two choices to choose from, vanilla or match. Collin ordered two vanilla, and I ordered one each. Mochi on match was little bit dry.

They open Sundays now. Their price seems up quite a bit, compared to the last time.

Collin and I went out for dinner in a rainy day. We headed to our favorite Japanese restaurant on Commercial Drive, but there was a line up. Although we wrote our name in a waiting list, it didn’t look like the line getting shorter nor food running to tables quickly enough. After a few minutes, Collin couldn’t wait any longer, and we were thinking about alternative.

Although we had to take Skytrain, we decided to go to Chinatown/Gastown area. There is a Japanese restaurant in my list where I found a few weeks ago, so we tried out.

Tsuki Sushi Bar is on Abbott street, close to Pender street. It is also in a walking distance from Skytrain Stadium station, so you could go before or after a game or concert. They serve mainly Sushi, and I don’t see any fried stuff.

We ordered from their regular and special menu as well as fresh sheet.

Miso Soup on Special
(Salmon Butter Miso)

I was suspicious with the taste when I ordered this. Surprisingly, it was tasty! It wasn’t oily from butter at all, instead, it helped the Miso taste milder.

Chawanmushi with Ebi on Special

Chawanmushi with Ebi on Special at Tsuki Sushi Bar in Vancouver

Chawanmushi is often translated to steamed egg pudding, which I don’t think makes you help image the taste. It is savory and it is like a warm soften Tofu in Dashi broth. I love Chawanmushi, and it is rare to have at restaurant in Canada, so I was happy.

Sushi Rolls
(Torotaku Roll, Heatwave Roll, Rainbow Roll, Dynamite Roll)

All rolls were loose so that it was fallen a part when we grabbed a piece. Collin was kind of disappointed with Dynamite roll, which wasn’t good. I liked Torotaku roll, Torotaku is a combination of Toro and Takuwan (pickled Daikon radish).

Nigiri and Gunkan Sushi

All Nigiri Sushi were fine, but Collin loved Shima Aji one the most. I agreed.

We seem to have ordered too much Sushi and ended up taking home some. But I wanted to try their dessert, so we ordered this.

Earl Grey Ice Cream

This was refreshing. I would like to try the other two dessert, too!

And extra pictures.
