In the middle of June, I went hiking with my friends. As they live in downtown Vancouver, we decided to have lunch somewhere in downtown after that. They gave two choices, Mexican or Japanese. I didn’t feel like eating Mexican, so we went to a Japanese restaurant.

It was Guu Garden. They are located at the corner of Hornby and Nelson street and serve Izakaya menu, i.e., tapas, at night. At the lunch time, they serve Teishoku, combo, or Bento box, in addition to some small dishes.

We ordered from their lunch menu and today’s special.

My choice, Black Cod Combo
(Grilled Saikyo Miso black Cod Combo)

It was good. Nothing special, though. :p

Friend’s choice, Tuna Yukke Don
(Chopped Tuna “Yukke” on rice with half boiled Egg & Ground Sticky Potato)

Albacore Tuna Belly Cutlet Combo from the special

My friend, who ordered Yukke Don, had ordered it before, too. So, it must be good.

I went on hiking on one weekend again, and I had no idea for a lunch place in North and West Vancouver. I saw a post on Facebook from a restaurant downtown the night before, which they started serving cold Udon noodles. So, I decided to go there, although it was almost 5pm and late for lunch.

Sushi Zero One is in a walking distance from Waterfront station.

I ordered from their new cold Udon menu.

Cold Yamakake Udon
(Yamakake (grated mountain yam), Okura, Wakame seaweed, and green onion on top)

There are mini, large, or mega sizes to choose. This is regular one.

When I told them that Okura tasted strange, not only did they offer another cup of Okura, but they also offer to make a whole thing as new. I asked just remove ones in the bowl.

I had been sick for almost one week, but I had to go to downtown Vancouver to make some payment. Only for an hour or so being outside, I was tired because I was still recovering. I decided to order some food at Sushi Zero One for early dinner to go. Sushi Zero One is in a walking distance from Waterfront station.

I ordered from their regular menu.

Large Tuna Yamakake Don
(Tuna Sashimi & Mountain Yam Potato on bowl of Sushi Rice)

Yamakake means that food topped with grated Yam, Tororo.
