My friend had contacted me to plan for dinner since last August, but she said she didn’t want to do on weekdays. For weekends, as I had another friend leaving the country for a while and wanted to spend time with her, and also the weather was great even late summer, I was pushing the plan. At the end of October, we finally set a date, and I asked her to choose a place.
The place we went was Tuc Craft Kitchen. It is located in Gastown, close to Army & Navy store. There is a bar section on the first floor in addition to tables, and there are more tables upstairs. Their website says they serve crafted food, using fresh local ingredients. No specific cuisine.
We ordered from their dinner menu.
Virgin Cocktail (orange base citrus)
We both weren’t feeling well to this date, so we ordered virgin cocktail. Hers was tangy, as she asked.
My appy, Roasted Butternut Squash Soup
My appy, Crispy Egg & Bacon
For my stomach, I chose the soup, but I couldn’t help ordering this crispy egg! I offered a half to my friend, as it tasted so good!
Her appy, Parsnip & Smashed Potato Fries
(toasted coriander ketchup)
I had some bite, and it was good. More you eat, greasier it gets. That’s my thought. (It could be because of my upsetting stomach.)
My entree, Faux Lamb Tagine
(Braised Yakima valley Lamb Shoulder, Parsnips, Braised Navy Beans, Water Chestnuts, Dried Cherries, served on Gnocchi Romaine)
It was a rich dish. I wanted to have some kind of refreshment, while eating. Maybe, I should have ordered seasonal vegetables or pickles from their nibbles or bites menu, to accompany with.
Her entree, Clam & Coho Bake
(Manila Clams, Salt Spring Island Mussels, Wild Coho Salmon, Chorizo Sausage, Mini Nugget Potatoes, Roasted Butternut Squash, White Wine Fume)
Their menu has starters, nibbles, bites, and entrees section. You could order a few different things from starters, nibbles and bites, rather than one entree, which might be fun if you go with a group.
