After I got some dessert from the donuts shop, I met up with Collin. Although it was a weekend, he finished his shift earlier and he said he was starving, so we decided to go somewhere close to where we were. Since he was starving, we skipped the restaurants that serve light meals.

We ended up going in Cactus Club Cafe on Burrard Street. It is across from the Burrard Skytrain station. They have various dishes in the menu.

We ordered from their regular menu.

Szechuan Chicken Lettuce Wraps
(Local Chicken, Sweet and Spicy Szechuan glaze, Peanuts, Wontons, Korean Chili Sauce, Spicy Yogurt)

This was his choice. I had some bite and liked it, although it was quite spicy. He loved this and said it was addictive. 🙂

Wor Wonton Soup
(BBQ Pork, Peking Duck Broth, Lemongrass and BBQ Pork Wontons, Asian Noodles, Baby corn, Mixed Vegetables)

He also ordered this. The broth was really salty to me, so he can’t even drink much.

Fish Tacos
(Ocean wise Lingcod, Chipotle Aioli, Shredded Green Cabbage, Salsa Fresca)

This was my choice, as I read a blog post saying it tasted so good. Yeah, I liked this. There was fried fish in the taco. As dinner, it might be small, though.

In the last September, although it was raining a bit, I decided to go to Friday Night Market in North Vancouver. It was held at Lonsdale Quay Pier on Fridays between May to October. When I headed, I told Collin I would be there and meet me after work.

First, I looked around which food trucks were there, when I got there. There were a few new trucks, but I didn’t feel like eating their foods and went for one of the famous food trucks, which was Feastro. They primarily serve tacos. I watched their food on TV, and since then, it was on my wish list.

I ordered their primary dish, four tacos, two for me and two for him.

Two Jerk Chicken Tacos
(Jerk Chicken, Tomato & Star Anise Chutney, Shaved Cabbage, Chipotle Aioli, Sour Cream, Corn Salsa, Pickled Jalapenos)

We both liked this tacos. Everything came together, and it tasted so great.

Pulled Pork Tacos
(Slow Roasted & Smoked, Refried Beans, Tomato & Star Anise Chutney, Shaved Cabbage, Chipotle Aioli, Sour Cream, Hand cut Salsa, Pickled Jalapenos)

Tuna Tacos
(Grilled Albacore Tuna, Tomato & Star Anise Chutney, Shaved Cabbage, Miso Aioli, Wakame, Pickled Ginger, Tobiko, Bonito Flakes)

We took those two tacos home, so they looked awful, but it was our fault. We should have eaten at the market. It was raining, and we didn’t want to stay there. Anyways, he ate the pulled pork tacos and liked it, but he preferred jerk chicken. I ate the tuna tacos and really liked it.

The Fair at PNE (Pacific National Exhibition) is held from the end of August to Labour Day in Vancouver. It is a fun place for everyone to enjoy on exhibitions and food, in addition to rides or games.

After we got BBQ sandwiches, we got thirsty. We couldn’t see any bottle of water or tea, except lemonade. We kept walking and I saw some drinks at this food truck.

Roaming Dragon is a well-known street food truck since the launch. I have heard of this truck, but I just missed the chances all time. They serve Pan-Asian food, including drinks and dessert.

We ordered drinks.

Watermelon & Mint Soda

Both drinks were so refreshing, especially in the hot day. There were lots of Lychee fruits in the juice, which I really liked.

In a couple of hours later, we came back to the truck to get some dinner to share.

Collin likes this. To me, it was just fine. Not so special to me. You can choose the filling from sweet chili calamari, lemongrass chicken, or Kaffir lime fried tofu.

If I have another chance, I would love to try different dishes.
