A few days after having afternoon tea at Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, my friends and I talked about the next food adventure. The conversation started from there were more places for afternoon tea, and it was extended to where your top 5 places would be that you like to eat before leaving the town. 🙂 One of the friends said that she didn’t know any places where she wanted to go particularly, but she had been craving for Pho and told us the place.

So we went. Au Petit Cafe is located on Main street, a few blocks away from Queen Elizabeth Park. They seem really popular in Vancouver, as I can find many blogs talking about this place. They serve authentic Vietnamese food, according to their website.

We planned to meet up there at 7 pm. One of friend and I arrived 15 min earlier, and when we looked at inside if the other friend already arrived, a staff inside was beckoning to us, so we went in. Right after we were seated, our server came, saying this was the last order! What? We looked at the door and realized that they close 7 pm! We called our friend what she wanted to order, but as she didn’t answer, we ordered Pho per person and one spring rolls to share.

I don’t know which part is authentic, but the rare sliced beef and soup was good and I liked their spring rolls. I can’t say that their Pho and spring rolls are the best in town to me yet.

On the next day of hiking, I had a Shiatsu appointment in downtown Vancouver. I didn’t want to eat before that, so I skipped lunch. After the appointment, I was walking around and looking for a place to eat, which was after 2 o’clock. Some were closed because of Sunday, and some were not open for the certain time period. Even though I had a Vietnamese restaurant in my mind, close to Davie and Seymour streets, it didn’t seem to open. I kept walking on Davie to the west and found another place.

Pho Goodness is located between Thurlow and Bute streets on Davie street and offers Vietnamese food. When I looked inside, this cozy restaurant was packed. Even after I stopped by bakery shop, it still was. It was almost 3 o’clock and I had to eat something, so I went in and waited.

I ordered from their regular menu.

I didn’t know the noodle soup included tripe until it was served. I’m just not used to the texture and couldn’t eat much. I liked noodles. For the soup, I’m not sure if I wasn’t feeling well or not, but more I drank, faster my heart beat, so I stopped at some point. (I have some heart condition.)

Spring roll wasn’t what I expected. What I wanted to order was a fried roll but with bubbly skin. I asked Collin about it when I got home, and he said that is rice paper. I don’t know if that kind of roll is on their menu.

I had a meeting in North Vancouver, and we decided to have lunch together. We wanted to go to a Sushi restaurant where seems to serve great Sushi, but they were closed on that day. So, we went to Thai restaurant instead.

Thai House is close to Lonsdale Quay. And, they have lunch set as well as brunch menu.

We ordered from their lunch menu. I only took pictures of mine by iPhone.
