It was nice that we still had time to spend together on that weekend, even after Collin and I enjoyed afternoon tea. Since it was his birthday weekend, I wanted to get something special for him, so we went shopping in Kitsilano area. Time went by, and we decided to have dinner around the area. I suggested eating Yakitori at a Japanese restaurant, but they’re gone! There was a new restaurant instead. We went back where we walked from and went in this restaurant.

The Noodle Box is on 4th Avenue, close to Burrard Street. They serve Southeast Asian cuisine. They are a casual restaurant that I could even say it’s a fast food restaurant. I have been to the restaurant in different locations, but I still don’t feel comfortable when I order. 😛

On some dishes, you can choose the spice level.

You can choose protein from chicken, beef, pork of Tofu. Prawns and free-run chicken are available with additional cost.

I ate chow mein before, so I chose this fried rice. There was some spice or ingredient that I didn’t like, but I couldn’t have figured out. I preferred chow mein.

When I arrived at Vancouver bus depot, coming back from Whistler, I realized that I had to either cook dinner or eat out. I was already tired, but decided to walk to downtown via BC Place. I was gonna go to Jinya, but it looked like full (yeah, it was Canada Day), so I kept walking.

The idea came up that was The Noodle Box. I have been to the same restaurant in Victoria, but Collin ordered for me at that time, so this time was the first time for me to look at their menu, and I was lost. Fortunately, there was a friendly kind lady helping me to decide, asking questions, such as noodle or rice, peanutsy or not, this noodle or that noodle, etc.

Consulting with the lady, I ordered Chow Mein noodles with mild – medium spiciness.

Mild – medium spiciness was spicy to me, but if I chose mild, it wouldn’t be spicy enough.
