On a Sunday morning, Collin said he wanted to have sandwiches for brunch. I was searching for Sunday brunch places where serve sandwiches. Although this places is an Italian restaurant, I found they have some bread on their menu, so I asked if this was OK or not. Well, he says fine most of time, and this is not an exception.

La Pentola is a sister restaurant of La Quercia where I believe recently is closed. As this restaurant is at OPUS hotel in Yaletown, I thought it was fine-ish dining, but not so much. People, who ran a marathon, even came in.

We ordered from their lunch and brunch menu.

Souffle from Lunch menu
(Souffle di Parmigiano, Zucchini Crudo)

The souffle was soft and warm, and I liked that. It was probably the first time for me to eat savory souffle. And, I liked that crudo, too. If I can share, I would order again.

His choice, Croissant + Eggs
(Croissant, Scrambled Eggs, Maple Bacon, Butter Lettuce)

My choice, Sardine + Toast
(Sardine, Fried Egg, Swiss Chard, Toast, Salsa Verde)

Collin said there was no special note on croissant dish. For my dish, the toast was a bit oily because of sardine oil. The sardine had a lot of small bones, so if you don’t like that, then don’t order it.

And, an extra picture outside.

There is eggplant terrine on the menu, and I want to try, as I read a blog saying it was so good.

When I checked all restaurants for Dine Out Vancouver, this restaurant was my first to check. Collin and I wanted to go there for long time, but they open only dinner time, which is difficult for him to arrange the time, and also I didn’t like their Dine Out menu last year so that we had missed opportunities. In spite of the fact that I was checking it right after the menu was revealed, the restaurant was almost fully booked! I manged to make a reservation for 9:15pm.

Chambar is a sister restaurant of Medina Cafe located to the next door. It is in a walking distance from Stadium Skytrain station. They serve Belgian food. I don’t know what Belgian food is at all other than waffle, so this 3-course dinner for $38 was great opportunity.

Bajan Tea
(Goslings spiced rum, Takara Japanese plum wine, iced tea & orgeat)

I sipped and really liked it. So did Collin. I would order this next time for myself.

After eating seafood dinner, Collin also planned to make some dessert for us. I had a craving for chocolate for last couple days, so he made chocolate souffle.

Chocolate Souffle with frothy Creme Anglaise

The cup is about 5cm height, though you can’t see how high, because the plate is also black color.

Mm, chocolate! 🙂 I don’t know what souffle should be like, but it was light and soft, and tasted good.
