When I checked all restaurants for Dine Out Vancouver, this restaurant was my first to check. Collin and I wanted to go there for long time, but they open only dinner time, which is difficult for him to arrange the time, and also I didn’t like their Dine Out menu last year so that we had missed opportunities. In spite of the fact that I was checking it right after the menu was revealed, the restaurant was almost fully booked! I manged to make a reservation for 9:15pm.

Chambar is a sister restaurant of Medina Cafe located to the next door. It is in a walking distance from Stadium Skytrain station. They serve Belgian food. I don’t know what Belgian food is at all other than waffle, so this 3-course dinner for $38 was great opportunity.

Bajan Tea
(Goslings spiced rum, Takara Japanese plum wine, iced tea & orgeat)

I sipped and really liked it. So did Collin. I would order this next time for myself.

As the first eat-out this year, Collin chose this restaurant to celebrate. I agreed, as we really liked their food at the last visit when his birthday. They have prix fixe brunch for $29 and change the menu occasionally, so you can enjoy a seasonal 3-course meal at a reasonable price. It would be great for first-time customers to try them out.

Market by Jean-Georges is on 3rd floor of Shangri-La Hotel, which is the highest building in BC and is located in the centre of downtown Vancouver. If you have a problem with stairs, find the elevator beside Urban Fare market.

We ordered from their prix fixe brunch menu.

When an expediter brought my dish, she said Sushi, and I told her that I didn’t order Sushi. She restated Sashimi after that. Come to think of it, why didn’t they say Sushi on the menu? 🙂

After Collin started eating his main, he realized that he had enough sweets and that the dessert was still coming, so he asked the server to pack the half. I warned him after we ordered, but it was too late. I should have done that before we ordered.

My entree, Nut and Seed Crusted Snapper, Sweet and Sour Broth

My dessert, Poached Pear, Chewy Caramel, Vanilla Sherbet

The caramel was hard because of ice cream? It could have been more enjoyable if caramel was on top of pear or on the side.

Compared to the last menu, this menu was OK. Don’t get me wrong, taste was good. I just liked the last menu more. In this menu, I liked my appy best.

My company usually does a Christmas party at one of my boss’ house, but this time she took a vacation early and longer before Christmas, so we had one at the restaurant. There is one co-worker who cannot take wheat and also the other who has allergy with shellfish. It was not easy to make a decision for where to go.

Minami has Omakase (prix fixe) course and they can accommodate with the special diet. The server came before we started to get served, and she asked how severe the diet would be. (Do you know some soy sauce even contains gluten?)

Minami Restaurant is located in Yaletown. Most of our members came from far by cars, and it seemed not to easy to find a parking spot.

Collin and I came here before and liked Yuzu alcohol, so we recommended to everyone, but one of my boss didn’t see the pricing until he paid, and he was so surprised how expensive it was and how much we drank. :p

After eating short rib, I was getting full. The last main was Sushi, so I was so stuffed after!

I enjoyed their food, but I realized something after I was talking to my boss. The restaurant is too dark to enjoy food by eyes. I’m glad that I had installed Flashlight app on my iPhone so that I could enjoy before starting eating. (Flashlight app was useful to take a picture by my digital camera, too!)
