I have another friend, whose birthday was in early September. I sent a birthday message and told her, “let’s make a plan for dinner or brunch”. We finally set a date at the end of September and had brunch with her husband and her roommate.

The place we went was Forage restaurant. Forage is at Listel Hotel in downtown. They focus on fresh local and sustainable ingredients. The brunch is served until 2pm.

We ordered from their brunch menu.

My choice, BC Spot Prawn and Seafood Chowder
(Soft-poached Egg, Smoked Chicharron, Pork Hock)

I actually liked this. I don’t know if this was the best chowder, as people say, but there is depth, and it was not thin like soup but not too thick like glutenful.

Her choice, Classic Benny
(Back Bacon, Free-range Eggs, Crispy Potatoes, Hollandaise)

Double-fried Pork Cutlet Sandwich
(Fried Egg, Gouda, House-made Pickle, “Thousand Island”)

The sandwich looked good. I want to try that next time when I’m starving! čÖé

Her roommate wanted to try some chowder, in addition to the sandwich, and the small version came like this. It probably was a half price?

We were talking and talking so much while and after eating and didn’t realize the brunch time was way over until some family came in and staff said it was closed. Thanks for letting us stay longer!

The Dine Out event is held right now and they attend to it, so you might want to check out their menu.

The Halibut Festival at this restaurant had started in May, and this was 3rd year. My friend and I wanted to go there earlier, but she was a mom-to-be, and we both were busy for various stuff. In the early July, I saw a post on their Facebook page saying the event would be over in the coming Monday. Wow, time fries! I immediately contacted her to get planned.

Fishworks is a seafood restaurant, located in Lower Lonsdale in North Vancouver. The restaurant also has oyster bar. For this early summer time, they serve halibut menu, which is in season.

We ordered appy from the regular menu and each entree from the halibut menu.

At the last time I had it, I enjoyed this so much, so I recommended to her. I’m glad she loved it, too!

My side dish, Sauteed Vegetable

As usual, the food was great! The size of fish is always so generous, considering the price, and the fish is cooked in moist.

And, fish-molded chocolate truffle with the bill. This is what I love!

For the last week of Dine Out Vancouver, I chose this restaurant for us, because we had never been there, their regular menu is expensive for a try-out, and the Dine Out menu looked good, so I thought it would be a good opportunity to try them out with 3-course dinner for $38 at this event. Although I made a reservation before the event started, the dinner time was almost fully booked and I had to book for earlier time. However, Collin found out he had to work on that evening at the last minute, so we changed to 9:15pm.

Coast Restaurant is one of restaurants of Glowbal Collection group, such as Glowbal Grill or Italian Kitchen. Coast is located on Alberni street, where lots of restaurants and cafe are nearby. They serve seafood including oyster.

We both ordered the same appy. Collin loved it and asked me to take a picture of the scallop for some reason. :O Of course, I liked it, too.

His entree, Grilled Alberta Beef “Oscar Style”
(Blistered Peppers, Prawn Bearnaise)

He was upset with the pepper that was so hot that he couldn’t taste well after that. (The server didn’t warn anything, and also Collin didn’t read the menu well, as usual. čśŤ I didn’t know how you say it in English until he complained, but I’m familiar with Shishito pepper, which I can barely eat, because I can’t take that kind heat well.)

My entree, Grilled B.C. Snapper, and Add-on Rosemary Scallops
(Vegetables a la Grecque, Citrus Beurre Blanc)

Surprisingly, snapper portion was huge! I expected the half size. Oh, no, I didn’t complain. čÖé

Dark Chocolate Turtle Cake
(Raspberry pop rocks Macaron, Salted Caramel Fudge, Pecan Praline)

There were no choices on dessert. I’m not a fan of Macaron, but this was fun to eat! Pop rocks candy was on it, which I used to buy when I was small. čÖé

I was happy with all my choices! We want to try their regular menu on a special occasion.

And, extra pictures for the restaurant interior.
