Collin worked on a day shift and said that he didn’t want to cook that night. He said he could eat this or that, which usually sounds anything is fine. 😀 As I had a gift card given by my boss and had it for a long time as well as there was one open in a new location, I suggested going to this restaurant.

Cactus Club Cafe’s new location is beside Canada Place. When we got there, the waiting time was almost one hour, and Collin said he can’t wait. 😦

Well, I know there is one on Burrard street, so we went there instead. This location is across from the Burrard Skytrain station.

We ordered from their regular menu.

Signature Sangria

I liked this Sangria. And, so did he! He ordered the large one after he finished his caesar.

Crispy Dry Ribs
(Sea Salt, Cracked Pepper)

I believe it is supposed to be salty, but it was so salty. It tasted good, but I felt guilty to eat, because of my health. One or two was enough for me.

He seemed to enjoy his Fajitas. He ate them all way faster than I finished mine!

Millionaire’s Cut
(7oz chargrilled Filet Mignon, white wine sauteed creole Jumbo Prawns, buttered Mashed Potatoes, seasonal Vegetables)

Oh, this was a huge meal. It totally filled my stomach. It was so good that I couldn’t stop eating.

It is good to have a gift card when you order expensive food, eh? :p

I hadn’t seen one of my friends for two months or so, and she asked me if we can eat out for dinner before she got busier at her work. It was just before the ski season started, so I agreed and picked a date and a restaurant.

I chose The Flying Pig in Yaletown, which was long in my list. 🙂 They don’t take a reservation for dinner, so we just walked in. It was Saturday night, so we had to wait for 45 min, as anticipated.

As a start, there was a bit annoying incident happening to us. It was a cold night, so we waited inside. The host kept asking if there was anything that they can help, even after we left our name and phone number. He even allowed letting some people coming after us in and be seated at the window-side counter for waiting, which he didn’t offer us. Finally, we asked if we can wait here inside the door, and he said no… I just didn’t want to leave, because I read a review on some site saying that they never called back, but what can we do? No choice and we left and wandered around the area, and we decided if there were any other interesting restaurant we just went there. Well, as a note, they called us eventually before we found the other place.

We ordered from their dinner menu.

My friend invited us for a Halloween dinner. She even offered a costume for me, so I decided to go with Collin. Her friend was an organizer, and this restaurant was chosen, because they knew this restaurant’s previous owner.

Tio Pepe’s Restaurante Mexicano is a Mexican restaurant on Commercial Drive, closer to Venables street, and it was first time for us to go to this place.

We ordered some appy to share and a main for each. I’m not familiar with Mexican food except tacos or taco salad. So, I chose taco salad. 🙂 I took pictures of only our foods, as it was first time to meet everybody except my friend and I didn’t want to be rude.

My choice, Taco Salad
(A crispy edible flour tortilla shell layered with refried black beans, rice, meat or veggies and topped with lots of lettuce, salsa, guacamole, sour cream & 3 kinds of cheese)

The taco salad was huge, and there was still left even though I shared with Collin as well as others.
