On the first day of the Canada Day long weekend, I went hiking again. It was warm day as the end of June, and I felt humid while I was walking in the woods. The trail where I went has uphill for a while, so by the time when I finished the whole trail, I was exhausted.

When I came to downtown Vancouver, my mind was already set to the cold noodles for some reason. There were a couple of places where serves them as I knew. I chose Ramen Jinya. Jinya is on Robson street, a walking distance from the Vancouver Library. They serve the cold ramen noodles in summer time.

I asked if they already served it before sitting, and I ordered one.

With this cold ramen noodles, the soup (sauce?) comes with some sourness, which is vinegar. All ingredients on top were balanced when I ate together. I’m glad to go there!

Their website URL has been changed since the last visit.

After my friends and I went hiking in Bowen Island, we caught a late ferry. We rather go back to Vancouver than take later ferry to have dinner. We were thinking what we wanted to eat, and importantly which restaurant was still open because it was Sunday, especially during the Easter holiday.

We decided to go to Motomachi Shokudo, which is located in West End. We got off a bus at Denman and Georgia and walked for 5 min. We were able to be seated right away! Motomachi Shokudo serve Japanese-style Ramen noodle. They are under the same company as Kintaro Ramen, but it just serves under different concepts and targets.

We ordered from their regular menu.

I liked Gyoza, but I didn’t enjoy the Ramen as much as three years ago. The soup was too rich for me. Maybe, this is a trend now? I felt same at another Ramen place, too. I may ask hot water to thin it next time. 😛

My friend said the chicken in the spicy Miso Ramen was too dry to eat. The spiciness was just right, I think.

Although it was drizzling, my friend said she still wanted to go hiking. On the previous day, it rained so much, so I chose Stanley Park to go for walk. We planned to have lunch on the way to the park. As I had never been to this restaurant, we decided to go there.

Hokkaido Ramen Santouka seems so popular that there is a long line up every single time when I pass by. This time was no exception, but luckily, there were only a few people before us.

There are a few Ramen restaurants in Vancouver, and each has each concept and specialty.  Their specialty is white Tonkotsu soup, I guess. Noodles are thin and straight. You can choose the quantity of noodles, and pricing will be adjusted by $1.00 less or more.

My friend’s choice, Kara Miso Ramen
(Pork Broth seasoned with Hot Sauce and Miso)

She said that it wasn’t spicy to her. Maybe, Tonkotsu soup is mild enough to mix hot sauce?

My choice, Grilled Salmon Bowl Combo with Small Shio Ramen

It was two months ago, and I don’t remember its taste well. It means it probably wasn’t so special to me. Next time, I want to try Miso Ramen.
