One night for dinner, Collin asked a difficult request that he wanted to go to a Japanese restaurant where he can eat Sushi and Kara-age. Some Izakaya places serve Karaage but less quality Sushi or just one kind, and some Sushi places serve Sushi but Kara-age. Some are fine dining, and some others are so popular that you have to wait for long time. Finally, I picked up two places, and he chose one.

Juno Sushi Bistro is located on Davie street, close to Seymour street. They serve quality food with quality ingredients. The bistro is small, which can serve maybe 5 for counter table and 15 max for tables.

We ordered from their dinner menu.

Plum wine (Japanese Ume Shu)

Collin ate the Japanese plum in the drink as well. When you make Umeshu, you put lots of Japanese plums with Sake. So, the plum absorbs Sake so that the plum tastes exact same as Umeshu.

Hot Tea (Japanese Matcha & Genmaicha)

Pork Belly Kaku-ni
(Red Wine Braised Fraser Valley Pork Belly Served with Free Range Egg)

Oh, this egg tasted great. Collin usually doesn’t like boiled eggs, but he loved this one. Kaku-ni was soft and tasty, too.

Chicken Kara-age
(Deep-fried Maple Hill Farm Free Range Chicken with Special Spice)

Dynamite Roll and Nigiri Sushi
(Dynamite Roll, Nigiri: Inari, Big Eye Red Tuna, Toro, Aburi Toro, Ikura, Ebi, Tamago)

Collin loved the Aburi Toro and suggested me to order one. He also tried Inari and Tamago and enjoyed them.

Ebi Mayo
(Beer-Battered Shrimp, Grapefruit, Pistachio, Organic Green with Sweet Mayo Sauce)

This was definitely different from the other places’ as Ebi Mayo. As you can see the menu, they use citrus. So, mayo and citrus combination was interesting. If they don’t serve right away, this would be soggy.

Kushi Katsu 2pcs
(Panko-fried Fraser Valley Pork & Onion with Spicy Sesame Sauce)

Collin said the pork was a little hard, but I didn’t think so.

Black Sesame Ice Cream (Single)

I wasn’t sure if Collin liked black sesame taste, so I ordered single scoop. Well, he enjoyed and ate more than half! 😀 It was a little sweeter for me but I liked it, too. I can’t really describe how the taste was like, so try it yourself. 🙂

My friend seemed to hear from her friend that their Rice Omelette was good. Maybe, I’m gonna try that next time.

Mochikas Peruvian Cafe participated in Eat! Vancouver 2012. Collin and I had eaten their food at Eat! Vancouver last year, so we were excited to have this opportunity again.

They provided five dishes, including pork belly sandwich, which we really liked last year.

Food from Mochikas at Eat! Vancouver

So, we ordered the sandwich again.

However, how disappointing. It tasted totally different from the last time, and the pork belly even had lots of cartilage bones. I had to spit them out and ended up stopping eating. Oh, I forgot to take a picture…

After eating cheese cake, my friend and I walked around Whistler Village. As my friend came from Japan, I asked her if there were something that she wanted to eat or what she felt like eating. She said tapas would be good because we can control how much or less we eat.

As we were walking toward Village North, I took her to Elements. It is located in the Summit Lodge & Spa on Main street. They offered $30 dinner, which comes with 3 courses that you can choose from a certain list. You can order one $30 dinner and share.

We ordered one $30 dinner and one additional dish to share.

We didn’t really like this last one. Pork belly wasn’t crunchy enough for us.
