Beside the last two places, I had to check the menu of one of my favorite restaurants for Dine Out Vancouver. When I looked at their dine out menu, I really liked it and asked my friends, whom I went there with for Dine Out Vancouver last year, and one of them was excited to go there with me. 🙂

Fishworks serves seafood with reasonable price and decent amount, and moreover, it tastes good. It is located at Lower Lonsdale in North Vancouver and in a walking distance from Lonsdale Quay Seabus station. The dine out 3-course meal was provided by $28.

My friend liked this when we went there in their Halibut Festival, so she ordered again. 🙂

My appy, Dungeness Crab

As you might have noticed, the bowl was bigger! It seemed that the chef gave me extra, maybe because I come often and take my friends. 😉

My friend liked her appy, as she loved cilantro. (I have no comments, as I don’t like cilantro. :P) I was worried about my appy, because I don’t like coconut texture, but it was smooth soup with kick of spice and I really liked that.

Her entree, Ling Cod
(Jerusalem Artichoke and Winter Vegetable Nage)

I tasted some, and the ling code was cooked perfectly and nage was seasoned just right. Jerusalem artichoke was texture like potato and interestingly good.

My entree, Nova Scotia Lobster Tail
(Smoked Bacon, Chowder Sauce)

Here we go again! Thanks to the chef! He served two lobster tails on my plate. I let my friend taste one. 😀

Her dessert, Poached Pear
(Toasted Hazelnut, Vanilla Ice Cream)

My dessert, Chocolate Mousse
(with Fresh Raspberries)

I have heard they changed the recipe, so I got to order it. It was good and light, not too sweet, compared to the last year’s Dine out, so I finished to eat.

Oh, I’m glad I went there for Dine Out this year. I enjoyed much more than last year’s Dine Out.

As the first eat-out this year, Collin chose this restaurant to celebrate. I agreed, as we really liked their food at the last visit when his birthday. They have prix fixe brunch for $29 and change the menu occasionally, so you can enjoy a seasonal 3-course meal at a reasonable price. It would be great for first-time customers to try them out.

Market by Jean-Georges is on 3rd floor of Shangri-La Hotel, which is the highest building in BC and is located in the centre of downtown Vancouver. If you have a problem with stairs, find the elevator beside Urban Fare market.

We ordered from their prix fixe brunch menu.

When an expediter brought my dish, she said Sushi, and I told her that I didn’t order Sushi. She restated Sashimi after that. Come to think of it, why didn’t they say Sushi on the menu? 🙂

After Collin started eating his main, he realized that he had enough sweets and that the dessert was still coming, so he asked the server to pack the half. I warned him after we ordered, but it was too late. I should have done that before we ordered.

The caramel was hard because of ice cream? It could have been more enjoyable if caramel was on top of pear or on the side.

Compared to the last menu, this menu was OK. Don’t get me wrong, taste was good. I just liked the last menu more. In this menu, I liked my appy best.

When Collin asked me what I wanted for my birthday, I suggested if he can make me 10-course homemade dinner and he agreed to it. My birthday is December, but it was on weekend last year and he had to work. So, the dinner date was set on a weekday.

The course was planned as tapas style, so no main dish, and included some that I liked in the past when he made.

1st course: Quinoa chickpea pave with Coleslaw

He made this one in the previous month. As a part of 10-course meal, each one was too big! 🙂

2nd course: Smoked salmon wonton

3rd course: Marinated eggplant

I basically like eggplant, and after I ate marinated eggplant at Fishworks and Bao Bei, I told him I liked them and I can eat them every day. So, he sometimes makes some for me, and this time wasn’t exception. 🙂

4th course: Prosciutto wrapped chicken with Parsnip purée

5th course: Wonton soup

He made won ton soup in the past and I liked them, too. But this time, he put some unique spice, and I didn’t like so much. 😦

6th course: Scallop with butternut squash and bacon

7th course: Prawn cream cheese cannelloni with Rose sauce

8th course: Spicy green beans and cashew pork

As I liked the green beans dish that he made before, I requested the one. This was so spicy and I ended up having him eat some.

9th course: Apricot rum poached pear marshmallow soup (It was supposed to be two desserts, but we were full so he changed the menu at last minute.)

So, this is a hot soup. Because of that, marshmallows were melting in the soup. Mm, so good!

The dishes were served a bit too fast (because I’m slow eater!). I kept eating, sometimes having two or three plates in front of me, for 2 hours or so. I thought my stomach was going to explode! 😀
