Still talking about food in September, Collin and I decided to go for brunch on the last weekend of September. I was searching for a place the night before the weekend. I didn’t feel like eating sandwiches, and there wasn’t a place where I eager to go.

So, for my curiosity, because everyone seems to like this restaurant, I chose Hawksworth Restaurant. They are located in Rosewood Hotel Georgia across from the Vancouver Art Gallery. There is a cafe beside them, which I have been a few times. Both the restaurant and the cafe are owned by a same person.

We didn’t make a reservation, but we managed to get a seat right away. The restaurant was packed, so it is probably recommended for a reservation.

My choice, Pacific Sablefish Brandade

I was surprised by the price of the coffee. It was expensive to me for one person. (It might be charged per table?) Well, I liked my choice of food, though.

I went to Friday Night Market in North Vancouver in September as my second time, and I got some food for Collin and myself and had some bites. While I was eating in the rain, I decided to try one more street food cart.

I went for Le Tigre. I tried their rice bowl and wanted to try another topping. They serve west coast food influenced by Chinese cuisine.

I ordered their popular dish again.

Kick Ass Rice with Popcorn Chicken
(Cooked in Sake, butter, Dashi, and topped with a perfect Poached Egg, fresh herbs and Thai Chillies)

The poached egg was cooked perfectly this time. Yup, as I thought, I preferred this popcorn chicken to pork belly. What should I try next time?

As I mentioned before, Friday Night Market in North Vancouver was held at Lonsdale Quay Pier on Fridays, from 5 pm to 10 pm, between May to October. It was August, and the day time was still long, so I decided to go there and meet Collin after his night shift.

When I started to walk along street food trucks, I found Le Tigre, where I wanted to try last time but they closed earlier due to sold-out. So, I ordered right away, even before checking around all trucks. They serve contemporary west coast, influenced with Chinese food, as I understand what their website says correctly.

Poached egg was cooked more than I expected. The chilli was a bit spicy but yes kicked ass! 😀 I preferred pork belly to be cooked more firm. I would like to try it with chicken or another dish next time!
