In the early October, the sky was clear up, and it was nice to be out. For the weekend brunch, what Collin was craving for was pancake at De Dutch. It is called Pannekoek and like a crepe. We like their special bacon.

De Dutch Pannekoek House is in a few locations in Vancouver, and we went the one at Canada Place in Coal Harbour. When you go to the harbour, find a big raindrop object, and turn left along the inlet. Eventually, you will find the restaurant.

They serve not only pancake, but they also have breakfast menu, egg benedict, french toast, etc.

We ordered from their Pannekoek menu. He made some complicated request for his order, asking to put pancake in a separate plate from savory and also to add fruit topping, which ended up causing mixing up and misunderstanding.

My choice, Pannekoek with Pear + Maple Syrup

His fruit topping was on my plate, which was also what he meant. He meant something like fruit compote, not fresh fruit topping. The server was happy to replace it for him. Anyways, I liked my pear and maple syrup choice.

This time, the service was great. It was a busy time, but the food came out quickly, too.

Pricing seems to be slightly up, compared to the last time.

On one Friday night, I sent a text message to my friend if she wanted to go for walk next day. She responded yes! So, I also asked if there was any place she wanted to go for brunch. You know, it happens when you think about something, the thing won’t come up to your mind, which if you don’t think, it will be in your mind. Our wish-listed places it is! Anyways, I gave her three ideas, combination of hiking places and restaurants. She picked Kits one.

We had brunch at Cafe Regalade, before hiking. It is located in Kitsilano, close to Macdonald and 4th Avenue. They serve casual French cuisine for breakfast, brunch, and dinner. The place is like a small bistro cafe. When we arrived, there was a line up. We probably waited for at least 30 min.

We ordered from their brunch menu.

My friend’s choice, Soup of the Day, French Onion

I tasted some, and it was good. She said it tasted sour a bit. Maybe the flavour came from cheese?

I also had some bites. It was fluffy inside. She said it was probably made in oven, rather in frying pan. The interesting thing was when it got cold, the texture was more like pound cake.

My choice, Lyon Breakfast
(2 Poached Eggs, Mushrooms, Bacon, Pearl Onions, Spinach, Potatoes, and Red Wine Sauce, Salad)

When I started eating, I realized that this was a quite huge meal as brunch. I left some potatoes in the plate at the end. The sauce was a little bit salty, but with egg and spinach, as well as bread, it was fine.

I had heard about one of their dessert from my other friend that is an interesting shape, which is called Floating Island. However, our server said they didn’t have sauce for it, although the dessert was in the showcase. 😦 He showed us other dessert and convinced me to order the other one.

Cream Puff

I didn’t expect two coming! I asked the server why, and he said the dish comes with two. Wow! So, you had better come with your friend. My friend said she was full, so I ended up taking some home with me. Well, next time, Floating Island, for sure! 🙂

On the second day of our vacation, Collin and I woke up early a bit to pack our stuff before we left. Then we headed to the restaurant for breakfast.

Crepe Montagne is not only my but his favorite place. It is located in Whistler Village North behind IGA marketplace. From the mountain square, which is the open area where Whistler Gondola and Excalibur Gondola are, it takes 15 min to walk.

We ordered from their breakfast menu.

Collin’s choice, Freestyle

You can choose either ham or Canadian bacon, and you can choose either scramble or sunny-side up for your egg.

My choice, Pancakes

The sever took a wrong order as pancake with regular syrup. What I ordered was pancake with pure maple syrup, pointing the menu. When it’s served, I asked the server where the maple syrup was. She said this is not maple syrup one, and I told her I ordered maple one. She brought the little cup filled with maple syrup, but charged as a side, which the total cost was more than the price for pancake with pure maple syrup. Well, I didn’t complain, as we wanted to go riding as fast as we can after we ate.

Note for myself. Pancake wasn’t good as it used to be. Order crepe at a crepe restaurant. 😛

Side Two Eggs with scrambles

I know how the egg looks like on crepe if you ask to cook as scrambles, but I didn’t expect the side looked like omelet if you asked scrambles. 😀
