Wow, it has been a year, since the last time when I went to this cafe. It used to be closed on Sundays, so it was less chance to go there. As I knew they open on Sunday now, I went there to see if they have scones. Because I had a craving for them! 🙂

Nelson the Seagull is on Carrall street in the east side of Gastown. They serve from coffee to lunch.

I bought some from their counter pastries. Unfortunately, they didn’t have scones.

Croissant

This croissant wasn’t a French one. The texture is like a soft bread, and the taste has sweetness. I don’t like sweet croissant, but I liked it as a pastry bread. 😀

Collin had kept asking me to go to this cafe, but every time he asked it was Sunday. (They are not open on Sundays currently.) We were finally able to go on Saturday.

Nelson the Seagull is in the east side of Gastown. The cafe was full on that day, but we luckily found our seats to eat soon. Besides lunch, I also asked if they sell loaf of bread. Yes, they do, so I bought a loaf, which is huge!

We both ordered picnic lunch.

Picnic Board (meats, cheeses, bread, fruit, preserves, & dipping oils)

Preserves are Big Lou’s Pastrami and Boerenkaas cheese (staff said South African cheese, but I’m not sure…). Hummus and cilantro pesto were in a cup. Strawberry jam was on a small plate.

Note: the price is up a bit from the previous visit.

And, this is a rye bread that I bought. It is bigger than 15-inch PC.

I read someone’s blog about this cozy cafe, Nelson the Seagull, not too far away from Gastown. I went there one day, just asking when they opened, as their website at that time didn’t give me any information.

Collin and I went one Saturday. It was just around 12:00, and I wanted to have their picnic lunch whereas he wanted to go for breakfast. They said that lunch was ready in 10 min but we couldn’t order both, so we both ended up ordering picnic lunch.

And, these were on the counter beside the cashier that he wanted to eat next time.
