My friend decided to move out of her place at the end of April, so our other friends and I was planning to help her move her stuff on a weekend. Before helping, I met her earlier to have quick lunch. As I had to work in the morning a bit and we didn’t have much time, she selected two places nearby.

We chose one in Marpole area, Cafe de l’Orangerie. They are a Japanese style Italian or French restaurant. food.

We ordered from their regular menu.

My choice, Shrimp Macaroni Gratin
(Served with Homemade Mashed Potato & Homemade Bun)

My friend’s choice, Japanese Style Neapolitan Spaghetti
(Ham, Mushroom, Onion, Red Pepper, Special Tomato Ketchup Sauce)

My macaroni gratin was OK. It tasted good, but the white sauce was a bit watery than I thought. Thinking about cooking myself, I appreciate they have it on the menu, though.

My friend didn’t like her spaghetti much. I think the tomato sauce wasn’t seasoned well.

I was so down and left feeling frustrated, even after I left the restaurant where Collin and I had the horrible dinner. I suggested us to have dessert somewhere to freshen our mouths. We walked along Commercial Drive, but it was almost 9 o’clock and we didn’t see most places open. We ended up going to this Italian restaurant where also serves gelato and other desserts.

Famoso is on the middle of Commercial Drive, serving authentic Neapolitan pizza. As I mentioned in the past, their order system is interesting. Once a server guide you to a seat, decide what to order, remember your table number and go to cashier to place the order.

We ordered from their regular menu.

Affogato
(A Shot of Espresso on top of a scoop of Gelato)

I tasted affogato for the first time, and I really liked it. It might be little strong to have it at night? But I want to have one myself next time. The Tiramisu was OK. The one side was dry and the other side was moist. It was quite big for myself.

After Collin and I went to Vancouver Aquarium, we walked on the trail along Lost Lagoon towards Second Beach near Stanley Park Pool. By the time when we got back to Denman Street, it was dinner time and he wanted to eat out.

We kept walking on Denman Street to find some place, as it was a holiday. We ended up going to Nook where I went with my friend about a week before. Oh, well, it was fine, as this was first time for him to go there.

We ordered from both their regular and special menu.

Wow, I just realized that water was expensive. :O

The quantity of prosciutto looked way less than the last time. Well, sorry, Collin.

Spaghetti Bolognese

The restaurant is dark, so all pasta looked same, although what I ordered this time was not same as the last time. I don’t remember this Bolognese taste. I don’t know why. Drunk? 😛
