At the last time when Collin and I went to this restaurant, there was a long waiting list, and he couldn’t wait, so that we left for another Sushi place. This time on his day-off at the end of July, he seemed to have a craving for their Sushi and asked me to go there for dinner.

Kishimoto Japanese Kitchen + Sushi Bar is a casual Japanese restaurant on Commercial Drive in Vancouver. They serve Sushi, decorating beautifully.

We ordered from Sushi menu. He chose rolls and I chose Nigiri. I ordered some Nigiri for him as well, because those were rare fish and I wanted him to taste.

I have heard this Oshizushi is so tasty, so I had to go for it, although I can’t eat Jalapeno. Both of us really liked this! The salmon and creamy sauce melted in your mouth.

Nigiri Sushi
(2 Amaebi, 2 Tai (Sea bream), Toro, 2 Hirame (Flounder))

Tai and Hirame were on Specials. He didn’t like either of them. Those seem like slimy to him. Oh, I loved them all! He ordered Dynamite roll to refresh his mouth. 😀

Here is dessert.

We liked both ice cream. Of course, he preferred Yuzu one.

I saw the to-go menu updates on their Facebook page last month and noticed pricing went up again.

Wow, it’s October now! It was hard to get back on track. 🙂 Being busy and hot weather made me away from my home PC. So, this is back in May, during a busy time, I got a lunch to go. I called them if they still opened before ordering, because it was after 2 pm.

Hyoga Japanese Cuisine is on Kingsway, close to Joyce Street. When I arrived and asked what time the actual lunch time was, they said until 2 pm. No wonder there was no one in the restaurant, and I appreciated they took my order. Their lunch menu includes Bento box.

I ordered from their lunch menu.

Gyoza Karaage Lunch
(3 pc Gyoza, 4 pc Karaage, 3 pc California Roll, 3 pc BC Roll, Salad, Miso Soup)

Although Karaage was so tiny, the Bento box filled my stomach. Next time, I want to order Sushi more.

After my friends and I went hiking in Bowen Island, we caught a late ferry. We rather go back to Vancouver than take later ferry to have dinner. We were thinking what we wanted to eat, and importantly which restaurant was still open because it was Sunday, especially during the Easter holiday.

We decided to go to Motomachi Shokudo, which is located in West End. We got off a bus at Denman and Georgia and walked for 5 min. We were able to be seated right away! Motomachi Shokudo serve Japanese-style Ramen noodle. They are under the same company as Kintaro Ramen, but it just serves under different concepts and targets.

We ordered from their regular menu.

I liked Gyoza, but I didn’t enjoy the Ramen as much as three years ago. The soup was too rich for me. Maybe, this is a trend now? I felt same at another Ramen place, too. I may ask hot water to thin it next time. 😛

My friend said the chicken in the spicy Miso Ramen was too dry to eat. The spiciness was just right, I think.
