As I mentioned, we had a birthday dinner for our friend. As the traditional event, we usually buy birthday cake and bring to the restaurant where we eat. The dinner date was a weekday, and everybody worked on that day, so I asked Collin to pick up some dessert from a bakery cafe.

French Made Baking is the one I chose, which I checked out at Farmer’s Market. The cafe is on Kingsway, close to Broadway. When he got there, he called me there were not many choices. Those were what he chose, and I can’t remember those exact name and what it was.

What I liked most was Panna Cotta. The tart was good, too. The flan was much firmer than I imagined.

I want to visit there one day and eat crepe! ๐Ÿ™‚

After I had my birthday dinner, I went to downtown Vancouver, because I wanted to get some cake for myself. (I didn’t think Collin would get some for me, as he worked until late night.)

I stopped by at Thierry Chocolaterie Patisserie Cafe, as I know they open till late even on Sundays. They are on Alberni street, between Burrard and Thurlow street.

I bought two pieces of cake, one for me and one for Collin. ๐Ÿ™‚

Um, we both didn’t like the chestnut one much.

So, when one of our close friends’ birthday is coming up, we get together, which is now regularly planned. And, it was my turn! I’m the one, who usually pick up some restaurants and let the birthday girl/boy choose one, and this time, I picked some and had my friends choose one. My friends decided the one that was in my list for a long time since I saw a post on someone’s blog and that I wanted to go. Cool! I was so excited that I can finally go.

The Refinery is located on Granville street, close to Helmcken street, and once you reach, you need to go upstairs. They serve tapas plates, which I thought was good to share with five of us.

We ordered from their regular menu. One of our friends cannot eat fish, so we didn’t order any seafood dishes.

For dessert, my girl friends made some custard pudding (creme caramel) and brought for me! It is one of my favorite dessert! Thank you, girls! So, these are NOT on their menu. ๐Ÿ˜‰

And, for one person, who doesn’t like eating pudding, he ordered from their menu.

Flourless Chocolate Cake

This is nut & gluten free!

Overall, their food was great. I definitely want to go back.

Oh, by the way, did you notice that most pictures are visible? I installed Flashlight app to my iPhone and take pictures by my digital camera, using Flashlight on iPhone. ๐Ÿ˜€
