On the previous day of my birthday in December, I asked Collin to have brunch with me on my birthday. I was thinking to go to Market again, as I liked them when we went on his birthday. But I also wanted to try a new restaurant. So, I chose one from my list. 🙂

Forage is a new restaurant after O’Doul’s in Listel Hotel in downtown Vancouver. They serve food using fresh local ingredients. There are bar counter and tables, and at least 30 people can seat.

We ordered from their brunch menu.

Collin had already put milk before I took a picture. 😦

My choice, Buttermilk Pancakes

Collin’s choice, Classic Benny

Food was good. Just small note of what I didn’t like was when I eat pancake as sweet, I don’t want to taste potatoes or bacon. (They probably use same flipping for cooking savory and sweet. I understand that, but I just didn’t want any savory taste in that morning.)

I looked at their site, and the price seems slightly up since then.

I asked Collin to come with me to winter sports shops in Kitsilano one weekend in September. I couldn’t find something that I wanted, so we decided to go for brunch nearby. We walked around, and I remembered there was a restaurant that a finalist of Top Chef Canada second season opened.

Fable Kitchen is on 4th Avenue, close to Burrard street. Like their name means, you can feel all ingredients are delivered from farm to your table. The menu seems to change quite a bit, which is understandable if they want to serve what is the best of the season.

We ordered from their brunch menu. As Collin knows their manager, we got some complimentary side dish. It was very nice of him! 🙂

Both bacon and sausage were tasty. Bacon was so crispy, and homemade sausage was well-seasoned. And, both sauce was matched to each one. Sauce was more like jam, and I think the one for sausage was sun-dried tomato jam, but I can’t remember.

What I liked was their salad. These days, most of the restaurants serve just mix green salad that is packaged in the bag, which I can even make at home. Their salad was simple but included a lot of different kinds and taste was good. Don’t get me wrong. Of course, halibut cake was good as well as homemade hash. 🙂

I hadn’t been attracted to their brunch menu a few weeks back when I looked at their website, but I was wrong! I enjoyed their food.

Back in August, my friend and I went hiking on Whistler Mountain. After 6-hour hiking under 35 degrees, we were totally exhausted. We decided to have dinner in Whistler.

As my friend hadn’t been to my favorite crepe restaurant, we headed there. Crepe Montagne is located in Village North, behind IGA market and close to 7-Eleven. It was really nice to sit at their patio in the summer time.

We ordered from their lunch/dinner and dessert menu and shared.
