In early December, my company had a Christmas party at the restaurant. My boss went for brunch to this restaurant and apparently she really liked their food. All staff and their spouses were picked up by a limo and taken to the restaurant.

La Regalade is a French bistro in West Vancouver. It is further than Ambleside along Marine Drive. They have a sister restaurant in Kitsilano as a cafe, where I have been.

Maybe because of the special occasion, we were presented the menu in a big blackboard, appetizer and entrees, and dessert, separately. For the appy, bosses chose probably 5 different dishes, and all each chose an entree and a dessert.

This was sooooo good! It was creamy croquet, hot and tasty. I wanted to eat more than one! 🙂

There were more appy, such as Foie Gras or terrine, but by the time the plate came to my side, it didn’t look good to take pictures, although all tasted great.

Grilled Prime Rib, Shallots, Garlic, Wedge Potato

I chose this one, and so did most of the others. The prime rib was huge! You might not see it, but it was served in a frying pan, which was like 25cm wide. The meat was tender, grilled shallots and garlic was great.

On the further table, the others ordered beef bourguignon and trout filet. Bourguignon was ordered by multiple people so that it was served in the family style, in a big pot for them. I didn’t know until then that French serves in a big plate.

Now, here are desserts.

Floating Island

I ordered this. When I went to the cafe in Kitsilano, I couldn’t eat because they ran out the sauce. So, I had to order! It is meringue shared as hemisphere, with caramel sauce. It was quite sweet. I better shared with someone.

Well of Love
(Meringue, Ice Cream, Whipped Cream, Chocolate Sauce)

Collin ordered this. From the menu, it sounded so sweet. Well, he is a sweet tooth.

Ah, I was so full. I’m glad there was a driver to take us home that we can just sit in a car. I felt that they serve quality food and the restaurant gives comfy atmosphere, so I would love to go back for brunch next time.

Collin had been asking to go to this place, but it always happened to be Sunday. They don’t open on Sundays. On the last weekend in November, we were finally able his wish to come true.

His wish was to get a baguette from Finch’s Tea & Coffee House. This cozy cafe is on Pender Street and often occupied by many people.

We ordered from their baguette menu.

His choice, Prosciutto
(Prosciutto, Edam, tomato, red leaf lettuce, oil & vinegar)

He asked Cheddar instead of Edam. This is favorite. It had been long time since his last visit, so he enjoyed it a lot and asked me if he should get another one! :O

My choice, Pear
(Pear, blue brie, prosciutto, roasted walnuts)

This is my favorite, and I just can’t choose something new! 😀 The last time when it was a spring time, pear wasn’t ripen yet. This time, it was juicy.

On his birthday weekend, Collin said he wanted to go for afternoon tea. He usually works on weekends and there is a time limitation to do, but as he had a day off on that weekend, it was easier. I checked a couple of places for what time they serve afternoon tea.

I made a reservation online for Patisserie Fur Elise. They are located near Vancouver library. There is an entrance gate for Victorian heritage house on Hamilton street.

We were guided to the upstairs to be seated when we arrived. There were two rooms, and at least ten people can fit in the room where we were.

Bottom Tier: Savory
(Prosciutto, Brie and Fresh Basil Sandwich, Cucumber Dill finger Sandwich, Smoked Salmon Brioche, Bocconcini and Havarti Skewer, Scone served with housemade confiture and BC local berry honey)

I liked the prosciutto sandwich most. When I got a croissant in the shop downstairs before, it was sweet and wasn’t crispy, but this mini croissant for the sandwich was crispy.

Top Tier: Sweet
(Orange Dulcey daisy Tartlet, Mini Green Tea Chocolate Ganache with Red Beans, Mini Fur Elise, Lemon Cheesecake, Macaron)

We liked them all. The lemon cheesecake (white one) had some berry coulis at the top.
