My friend, who is a mama now, was planning to leave here for one year, and she and her parents invited me and the other friend for dinner out. There were only a few weeks left before she left, so we set a date in the middle of September.

The place we went was Fishworks where she tried a couple of times with me and liked, and she wanted to take her parents. As its name, it is a seafood restaurant. They are located in Lower Lonsdale in North Vancouver. You can walk from Lonsdale Quay Seabus station.

That day, there were two kinds of oysters, one was Stellar Bay Gold, and the other was Barron Point. Unfortunately, my favorite, Kusshi, wasn’t in season.

(Garlic, ginger, and soya marinated Eggplant, toasted cashews)

Both appetizers tasted great as usual.

The first one was buttery like Miyagi, and the second one was a bit bitter. It is fun to compare to eat. 🙂

Whole Fish (Sea Bream)

Wow! It looks good, doesn’t it? Her mom ordered this, and I tasted some and really liked it. It was fresh and cooked perfectly that you can actually taste the originate fish taste.

Fishworks Paella
(Saffron rice, Clams, Chorizo, Honey Mussels, Organic Chicken, Prawns)

This is what her dad ordered, and again I tasted some. I preferred the rice more al dente, but the taste was fine.

Sockeye Salmon Wellington

I have eaten this before, and it tasted so good. My friend, who invited us, ordered this and enjoyed it.

Halibut Poutine
(Goat cheese gravy, garlic confit, Sun-dried Tomato, balsamic)

I also have eaten this before, and the halibut was thick and tasted good, too. The order friend enjoyed it, but it seemed a bit bigger for her stomach.

My choice, Egmont White Sturgeon
(Butternut squash, Mushroom duxelles, smoked pancetta)

This mushroom duxelles was amazingly good! The fish was firmer and less fatter than I thought. The pancetta was a bit too much for me. This was a huge meal.

At the last, some of us ordered dessert.

Overall, I’m glad that her parents really enjoyed the seafood in this restaurant, and we had a great time.

The Halibut Festival at this restaurant had started in May, and this was 3rd year. My friend and I wanted to go there earlier, but she was a mom-to-be, and we both were busy for various stuff. In the early July, I saw a post on their Facebook page saying the event would be over in the coming Monday. Wow, time fries! I immediately contacted her to get planned.

Fishworks is a seafood restaurant, located in Lower Lonsdale in North Vancouver. The restaurant also has oyster bar. For this early summer time, they serve halibut menu, which is in season.

We ordered appy from the regular menu and each entree from the halibut menu.

As usual, the food was great! The size of fish is always so generous, considering the price, and the fish is cooked in moist.

As I wrote in the previous post, my friends and I went to a Vietnamese restaurant on Main street. Because they closed at 7, we were kind of rush to eat. When we were off the restaurant, it was still before 8 o’clock. We all were wondering what we should do, go home or go somewhere to chat. I suggested to have some dessert, as I knew there is a dessert cafe on Main street that opens at 7 pm.

Sweet Revenge Patisserie is close to King Edward Avenue. They open at 7 pm daily so that it is perfect if you want some sweets at night. However, the cafe is really small and can take 15 people at once. The cafe is dark and candles are on the table. A small parking lot is at rear.

My trifle was quite big, and I was full when I ate them all. (Well, I can’t take home, since they are soaked sponge cake, right?) My friends’ dessert was good, too. “Smooth Operator” cake reminds me of the cake at True Confections.

When we were chatting, still working on our dessert slowly, there was a line up in the cafe. So, depending on the timing, you might have to wait for a while.
