My friends and I were at a Taiwanese restaurant for our last dinner together until one year later. We were checking out their dessert menu, but we left the restaurant without having any dessert, as some of us already had milk tea and also we couldn’t find what we wanted to order.

On the way home, one friend said to go somewhere for dessert. We don’t have much information around the area, so we decided to go to Cactus Club Cafe near Metrotown. The restaurant is on Kingsway and open till late.

We each ordered some dessert or drink.

Chocolate Lava Cake
(Molten dark Chocolate Cake, Raspberry Coulis, Tahitian Vanilla Ice Cream)

I knew the galette would be big, so I chose the lava cake. I liked it, although I found it sweet. The sourness of raspberry coulis was helpful for that.

Collin and I went walking in West Vancouver on a weekend in January, as it was supposed to be a sunny day. We planned to have brunch after walking, before he left for work. It was Sunday, so I researched where to go in advance, not letting him be late for work.

I chose The District in North Vancouver. They are in a walking distance from Seabus Lonsdale Quay station. They’re not open for lunch on weekdays, but open for brunch on weekends.

We ordered from their brunch menu.

When Collin started eating, he realized most of the waffles were hard by being overcooked. He nicely asked if it was supposed to be like that, and they apologized and took off it from our bill. He liked the side coulis, so it would have been perfect if the waffles were cooked properly.

On my Benny, there was interesting sauce on the hash. It was like spicy Mexican salsa? Haha, I wish I can describe it better. čśŤ

And an extra picture. They have a lot of interesting beer!
