For my birthday weekend in December, I asked Collin to go for brunch. As usual, we left home later than we thought, we looked for a restaurant somewhere close to Waterfront station, as he had to go to work after. I suggested a couple of places, and he agreed to one of them.

It was Tuc Craft Kitchen in Gastown, close to Woodward’s. I have been there with one of my friends for dinner, but for him, it was the first time.

We ordered from their brunch menu.

My choice, Berries & Gaufres
(Fresh Waffles, Blueberry Compote, Cream Cheese)

Gaufres are waffles in French. They were thin crispy waffles. If I liked it? Not so much, I mean, it was different. I prefer waffles like crispy outside and fluffy inside.

His choice, Crispy Chicken & Waffles
(Free run Chicken Breast, Savory Waffles, Dijon Mournaise)

Unlike me, he liked his dish. He seemed to like the combination of savory chicken and waffles. According to him, the chicken was crispy outside and moist inside. Plus, he liked the sauce, too. I couldn’t find what the Mournaise is.

On one of the weekends in November, Collin and I planned to have brunch. He said he wanted to eat pancake, but I didn’t want to go to the German pancake place. Instead, I was thinking where to go, while we were walking towards Gastown.

Eventually, I got an idea, The Flying Pig. I have been to the other location in Yaletown and have heard about this second location. As he hadn’t tried this restaurant, he agreed to walk in. Luckily, we were able to get seats without a reservation. There are seats upstairs as well and bar at downstairs.

We ordered from their brunch menu.

Complimentary Bread

This is a bad presentation, but it’s not our fault. I took a pic before we ate, and it was served as it looks. The bread was moist, though. I believe it was banana bread.

Chef Erik’s Croque Madame
(Sourdough, 3 Cheeses, Ham, Over Easy Eggs)

The presentation was a little bit boring, but Collin said the taste was fine. He preferred the one he had somewhere else, but I can’t remember where he referred to.

French Toast with Maple Blueberry Compote
(Thick cut Brioche, Butter and Blueberries)

This looks good, doesn’t it? The meal was huge! There were two slices of thick brioche, so I gave him some.

(Market Fresh)

I didn’t know how my French toast looked like and wanted to have some vitamin C, because I had been sick on and off, so I ordered this side dish. There were strawberry, raspberry, blackberry, pineapple, and melon. It was quite a quantity as a side, and I also asked him to have some.

We were satisfied with both their service and food. We would come back in the next occasion.

Here is a view from the upstairs in the restaurant.

We had the first Family Day in BC. For that day, Whistler Blackcomb announced that the ticket price was 50% off! Collin and I, my co-worker, former co-worker, and her family decided to go riding together. We had breakfast on Whistler mountain and lunch on Blackcomb mountain.

There were a lot of people on the mountain, but we managed to find seats at Glacier Creek Lodge around 1:00 pm. Glacier Creek is at the bottom of Jersey Cream and Glacier chair lifts.

Collin ordered from Fries section, and I wasn’t hungry so I just grabbed snack.
