When I checked all restaurants for Dine Out Vancouver, this restaurant was my first to check. Collin and I wanted to go there for long time, but they open only dinner time, which is difficult for him to arrange the time, and also I didn’t like their Dine Out menu last year so that we had missed opportunities. In spite of the fact that I was checking it right after the menu was revealed, the restaurant was almost fully booked! I manged to make a reservation for 9:15pm.

Chambar is a sister restaurant of Medina Cafe located to the next door. It is in a walking distance from Stadium Skytrain station. They serve Belgian food. I don’t know what Belgian food is at all other than waffle, so this 3-course dinner for $38 was great opportunity.

I sipped and really liked it. So did Collin. I would order this next time for myself.

Early in November, I asked Collin to go to this restaurant for brunch, because he told me he wanted to try, and also because it was his birthday. I heard they have prix fixe brunch for $29, which I thought was reasonable.

Market by Jean-Georges is on 3rd floor of Shangri-La Hotel, which is the highest building in BC and is located in the centre of downtown Vancouver.

As we told them it was his birthday, they gave both of us a complimentary Mimosa.

All tasted so good. They seem to change the menu occasionally based on the seasonal or available ingredients, so some of what we ate are no longer in their menu. I would like to go back for my birthday. 🙂

Last week, Collin said he wanted to make healthy dinner. He asked me what I wanted to eat, and I answered salmon, but he rejected the idea. :O

Anyways, he chose whatever ingredients he thought fresh and healthy.

Steamed Artichoke

There was butter dipping sauce, but I forgot to take a picture.

Salad with Butter Cheese and Crispy ham butterfly

Pan seared Rockfish with Parsnip Celeriac Puree, carrot points and porcini fish fume

Of course, the fish cooked nicely. The puree was so good.
