For the last day of the Easter holiday, I asked my friends if they wanted to go hiking in Bowen Island. They readily agreed to go! 🙂 We took a ferry from Horseshoe Bay. It is 20-min ride. The first thing we did when we arrived at Snug Cove ferry terminal was to find this cafe. My friend’s co-worker told her that their carrot cake was the best for him and that the cafe was just beside the ferry dock.

The Snug Cafe is 200m walking from Snug Cove ferry terminal. They open really early morning til 4pm daily, and dinner on a few days of the week. The store inside is small with two tables, but there are lots of tables outside. When we walked in, it was past noon, and there was a line up. So, we decided to come back after little hiking to a viewpoint.

We ordered from their showcase for snack to go. We continued to hike and had these snacks at Killarney Lake.

I liked both Quiche.

Carrot Cake

I never liked carrot cake that I ate in Canada, and this wasn’t an exception. My friend, who bought this, kept eating, so she must have liked it.

Apple Pie

This apple pie used a lot of cinnamon, which I didn’t like. My friend, who bought this, didn’t like cinnamon. Poor girl. 😦 Well, she enjoyed the raspberry cream cheese croissant, and I liked that, too.

I wrote in the post a few days ago what happened on Collin’s birthday night that his dad couldn’t make it so that we had to find a restaurant and had dinner by ourselves. So, the birthday dinner with his dad was rescheduled in a few days.

The restaurant booked was Fable Kitchen. As we liked when we went for brunch, Collin suggested his dad. The restaurant is on 4th Avenue, close to Burrard street. It was early weekdays, but the restaurant was packed.

We ordered from their diner menu. We were a group of 5 people, so we shared some appetizers and each ordered an entree. As Collin and his dad know their manager, we got some complimentary dishes again.

As a bigger group, it is difficult to take enough time to take focused pictures. Besides, I forgot to take pictures of drinks…

Here are appetizers to share.

Bread with Green Onion Butter (Sorry, I can’t remember the exact name…)

Spaghetti with Meat Balls

Chickpea Fritters

Mushroom Flat Bread
(Olive oil, Onion jam, Arugula, Parmesan)

Note for me. I liked canned tuna, but the best was chickpea fritters. Spaghetti wasn’t so special to me, maybe because it was too small to share with 5 people and I didn’t have much to enjoy the taste.

Here are entrees.

Duck Breast
(Braised red cabbage, Parsnip, Duck confit croquette)

Potato Crusted Chicken
(Ratatouille)

Halibut & Chorizo
(Chowder, Mussels, Tomatoes, Fennel)

My choice was Halibut & Chorizo, and I liked it. Collin liked the chicken so much.

And, dessert. Basically, I liked to eat this, and Collin’s dad insisted that I should order! 😀 (He knows I’m a food monster.)

Lemon Pot de Creme
(Lemon granita, Gin, Foam)

The manager brought the other dessert, too. 🙂

Mascarpone Cheesecake
(Carrot cake, Yogurt anglaise)

You know what? I’m glad Collin’s dad insisted that I should order. I really liked the Lemon Pot de Creme! I usually don’t like sour stuff, but this one was well-balanced with sweet and sour.
