I hadn’t seen one of my friends for two months or so, and she asked me if we can eat out for dinner before she got busier at her work. It was just before the ski season started, so I agreed and picked a date and a restaurant.

I chose The Flying Pig in Yaletown, which was long in my list. 🙂 They don’t take a reservation for dinner, so we just walked in. It was Saturday night, so we had to wait for 45 min, as anticipated.

As a start, there was a bit annoying incident happening to us. It was a cold night, so we waited inside. The host kept asking if there was anything that they can help, even after we left our name and phone number. He even allowed letting some people coming after us in and be seated at the window-side counter for waiting, which he didn’t offer us. Finally, we asked if we can wait here inside the door, and he said no… I just didn’t want to leave, because I read a review on some site saying that they never called back, but what can we do? No choice and we left and wandered around the area, and we decided if there were any other interesting restaurant we just went there. Well, as a note, they called us eventually before we found the other place.

We ordered from their dinner menu.

Our server was nice, and food was good. As they accept reservations for brunch, I may go for it.

Collin and I had a plan for his birthday dinner with his dad. We were walking around downtown and Chinatown until the time came. However, we got a message from his dad that his flight may be cancelled due to the bad weather. So, I told Collin to tell him not to worry, and we decided to go somewhere for dinner ourselves.

Collin’s choice was Minami Restaurant in Yaletown. They are the second one of Miku Restaurant in Coal Harbour, which opened a half year ago. We walked in before six, because somehow I couldn’t make an online booking. Luckily, they had a table for us.

We ordered from their dinner menu.

As we liked Red Wave Roll Sushi at Miku, we ordered it again and it tasted good here, too. As for Oshi Sushi, I’m not sure. We didn’t like it much. It may have burnt too much?
