Collin had been asking to go to this place, but it always happened to be Sunday. They don’t open on Sundays. On the last weekend in November, we were finally able his wish to come true.

His wish was to get a baguette from Finch’s Tea & Coffee House. This cozy cafe is on Pender Street and often occupied by many people.

We ordered from their baguette menu.

His choice, Prosciutto
(Prosciutto, Edam, tomato, red leaf lettuce, oil & vinegar)

He asked Cheddar instead of Edam. This is favorite. It had been long time since his last visit, so he enjoyed it a lot and asked me if he should get another one! :O

My choice, Pear
(Pear, blue brie, prosciutto, roasted walnuts)

This is my favorite, and I just can’t choose something new! 😀 The last time when it was a spring time, pear wasn’t ripen yet. This time, it was juicy.

In the middle of July, I went hiking with my friends. A few weeks back, the snow still remained on the trailhead where we planned, and we changed to the lower location to hike. We re-visited the trail this time if the snow was gone. And, it was!

After we hiked for a couple of hours, we went to downtown Vancouver to have brunch. I relied on my friends where to go. The place we headed was Subeez Cafe Restaurant Bar. It is closer to Yaletown.

We ordered from their brunch menu.

Sockeye Salmon Baguette
(Arugula, Pickled Onion, with Citrus Mayonnaise)

Garden Vegetable Burger
(Vegetable and Brown Rice Patty, Arugula, Roasted Tomato, Pea Shoots, Cucumber with Chipotle Hummus and Garlic Mayonnaise)

My choice, Eggs Benjamin
(Poached eggs, Smoked Salmon and Hollandaise on an English muffin, Hash Browns and West Coast Greens)

On that day, I didn’t feel like eating sandwiches, so I chose egg benny with smoked salmon. I always think that you can’t expect egg benny to be best in town rather than whether poached egg is cooked perfectly and Hollandaise sauce is nicely done or not, can you? I’m dreaming to eat the best egg benny in Canada one day. 🙂

On the second day of Easter holiday, it looked windy when I woke up and looked outside. Well, at least, it was sunny, so I prepared for another hiking. On my way to catching a bus, I was thinking I should grab some lunch/snack before heading to the trail, and I stopped by at downtown Vancouver.

Finch’s Tea & Coffee House is in a walking distance from Waterfront Skytrain station. The cafe is small, so if you want to eat in, you should expect the waiting time. Also, it took 20 min for me to get the baguette, although there was no line (well, quite a few people waiting at tables), so if you’re hurry, this might not be a place for you.

I ordered from their baguette menu.

Pear (Pear, blue brie, prosciutto, roasted walnuts)

Pear was too young to eat. I prefer to ripen ones. Anyways, I had some bites while I was waiting for the bus, and the rest was taken with me for snack on hiking.

Most of you might already have known, but they open the second store in Strathcona. Have you been there yet?
