In late August, I went hiking with my friends and their friend family. There were kids and a dog coming with us, so it was a short relaxing hiking. After we said good-bye to the family, we came back to downtown Vancouver.

We sought a restaurant for brunch or lunch in the Yaletown area, and they had an idea. It was Romer’s Burger Bar. When I got there, I realized the place was used to be Section (3), where Collin and I went having Groupon.

We ordered from their lunch menu.

My choice, The Hali
(BC Halibut, R special lemon ale batter, Cilantro Dill Slaw, Spicy Pickle Tartar, Red Pepper Salsa)

The halibut was slightly overcooked, but the taste was good.

So Cal Free-Range Turkey Burger
(Fresh Avocado, Soleggiatti Tomatoes, Red Onion, Organic Watercress, Chipotle Aioli)

The Standard with Veggie Patty
(Vine-ripened Tomato, Crisp Iceberg, Sweet Onions, Pickles, R sauce)

Is it ordinary that fries or salad doesn’t come with burger? Well, my burger had a volume, but it is still nice to have them to refresh mouth with those.

On a Sunday morning, Collin said he wanted to have sandwiches for brunch. I was searching for Sunday brunch places where serve sandwiches. Although this places is an Italian restaurant, I found they have some bread on their menu, so I asked if this was OK or not. Well, he says fine most of time, and this is not an exception.

La Pentola is a sister restaurant of La Quercia where I believe recently is closed. As this restaurant is at OPUS hotel in Yaletown, I thought it was fine-ish dining, but not so much. People, who ran a marathon, even came in.

We ordered from their lunch and brunch menu.

Souffle from Lunch menu
(Souffle di Parmigiano, Zucchini Crudo)

The souffle was soft and warm, and I liked that. It was probably the first time for me to eat savory souffle. And, I liked that crudo, too. If I can share, I would order again.

His choice, Croissant + Eggs
(Croissant, Scrambled Eggs, Maple Bacon, Butter Lettuce)

My choice, Sardine + Toast
(Sardine, Fried Egg, Swiss Chard, Toast, Salsa Verde)

Collin said there was no special note on croissant dish. For my dish, the toast was a bit oily because of sardine oil. The sardine had a lot of small bones, so if you don’t like that, then don’t order it.

And, an extra picture outside.

There is eggplant terrine on the menu, and I want to try, as I read a blog saying it was so good.

The conversation with my friends for Dine Out Vancouver was continued, even after we decided to go to a restaurant for lunch. We wanted to go somewhere for dinner as well, but there were so many choices. Using all the communication tool (Facebook message, text, phone), we finally came to a decision. 😀

We decided to go to Yaletown L’Antipasto. They serve Italian food, located in Yaletown, as you can see their name. We all had never been there, so it was a good try-out with $28 Dine Out dinner.

We all ordered from their Dine Out menu.

(Manilla Clams, sauted in white wine, extra virgin olive oil, garlic & chillies)

Both antipasti was good. Yet, I think my Vongole dish wasn’t so hot. Well, the taste was good, and the server brought some bread for us to have the broth with.

Primi, Pappardelle with Mixed Meat Ragu
(Beef Tenderloin, Italian Sausages, Chicken Breast & Boneless short ribs braised in a Tomato Sauce)

Primi, Risotto alla Pescatora
(Arborio rice, simmered with Tiger Prawns, Mussels, Clams & Calamari)

Risotto was strange. When my friend and I started eating, it was so good. Then after one third was eaten, more we continued to eat, saltier we tasted. At the end, we both needed to drink water and I was eager for my dessert.
