I had another craving for grilled fish. 🙂 Grilling fish at home is doable, but it causes smell, which neighbour wouldn’t like, and heat-oven may not work well sometime. Well, I have tried a few times and wished I had a gas-oven.

As usual, I went to Hachibei, an authentic Japanese restaurant, in a South Cambie residence area. The restaurant is really a cozy place.

After I looked at the menu, I asked the server what the today’s fish was. The choices were same as the last time. I told her that I wanted to eat grilled fish, but I ordered the exact same ones at last two visits. She was thinking a bit and suggested black cod.

Black cod is known as sable fish. The fish was marinated with Saikyo Miso and grilled. As you might have noticed, the small plates come with the Teishoku were exactly same as Today’s BBQ fish Teishoku last time.

Sometimes, I feel like eating grilled fish, maybe because I used to eat it once a week or so. As I mentioned before, there weren’t so many places that you can eat grilled fish in restaurants in Vancouver for dinner.

I went to Hachibei, an authentic Japanese restaurant, in a South Cambie residence area. They serve Izakaya menu as well, but the restaurant is like Japanese-style bistro.

I ordered from their dinner menu, like the last time. Actually, I chose exact same fish, too. 🙂

The small plates come with the Teishoku were exactly same as the last time, Japanese rolled omelet, Kinpira (stir fried burdock and carrot) and spinach Gomaae, and Agedashi Tofu. No complaining, just wondering if they change sometime.

One weekday, I had a craving for grilled fish really badly. If you do grill fish, I like fish to be really fresh. I looked for where you can eat grilled fish in restaurants in Vancouver for dinner, and there weren’t so many choices.

So, I chose Hachibei, an authentic Japanese restaurant. It is in a South Cambie residence area, between Oak and Cambie. They serve Izakaya menu as well, but the atmosphere is not like that, but more like Japanese-style bistro.

I ordered from their dinner menu. I was gonna order either Black Cod Saikyoyaki or BBQ Fish Teishoku. As they sold out black cod, I chose BBQ fish. They gave me five choices of fish for it.

Aji, Horse Mackerel, was bigger than I thought. 🙂 Two kinds of daily special were Japanese rolled omelet, Kinpira (stir fried burdock and carrot) and spinach Gomaae, and Agedashi Tofu. Some pickled cucumber and Daikon radish came with, too. Miso soup had a lot of ingredients in it, such as Enoki mushrooms, Wakame seaweed, tofu.

By the time I finished the dish, I was totally full. I couldn’t even order ice cream. 🙂

And, an extra picture of the restaurant exterior.
