After Collin and I came back from Whistler, snow kept falling in Whistler due to a snow storm, although it was the beginning of March. I thought it actually had snowed too much to clear the avalanche control in order for Whistler Blackcomb to open the alpine chair lifts, so I decided to skip to go skiing on that Saturday. Instead, I asked Collin if he wanted to go somewhere for brunch.

He had wanted to go Wildebeest for quite a bit, so we went there for the first time. It was after 1:30pm and there were lots of seats open. They are located across from SFU at Woodward’s and London Drugs in Gastown, and they don’t open for lunch, only for brunch.

We ordered from their brunch menu.

The taste was good, but a little bit pricy? Yet, I would like to go back for the donuts! 😉 Collin kept saying he wanted to go there for dinner, so we would go one day.

I asked Collin to go for brunch on a weekend. By the time when we got to downtown Vancouver, he changed his mind for what kind of food he wanted to eat. Well, then, I decide. 🙂 I checked a site where brunch is available at that time and made an online reservation.

I chose Edible Canada at the Market, which is located in Granville Island. The restaurant supports local ingredients, so I believe the menu will be changed based on local and seasonal ingredients’ availability.

We ordered from their lunch menu. (The menu is changed occasionally.)

Coriander Orange Juice

My choice, Coriander Seed & Smoked Serrano Pepper Crusted Wild Albacore Tuna
(Fingerling potatoes, Squash, Kale, Confit Tuna, Sherry mustard vinaigrette)

I thought my salad was too small, but when I finished it was a decent amount to fulfill my stomach.

On a weekend after raining just cleared up, Collin and I walked around Gastown. I have two new places in my list for brunch around the area, and we picked this one.

Secret Location is at the corner of Water street and Carrall but doesn’t look like a restaurant when you see from the outside the door. Even from the corner of the streets, it looks like just a showroom. The place has a restaurant on the right and probably a clothing store on the left, once you open the door.

We ordered from their brunch menu.

Americano

Sausage & Egg Sandwich
(Secret Location Game Sausage, Scrambled Eggs & Melted 3-year-old Cheddar, Crab Apple Compote, House-made Croissant, Mushroom Hash)

They have pancake, crepe, Quiche in their brunch menu, too. The dish is pricy to me, but hey, Gastown is a tourist location. I would come back for croissant, maybe.
