My friend decided to move out of her place at the end of April, so our other friends and I was planning to help her move her stuff on a weekend. Before helping, I met her earlier to have quick lunch. As I had to work in the morning a bit and we didn’t have much time, she selected two places nearby.

We chose one in Marpole area, Cafe de l’Orangerie. They are a Japanese style Italian or French restaurant. food.

We ordered from their regular menu.

My choice, Shrimp Macaroni Gratin
(Served with Homemade Mashed Potato & Homemade Bun)

My friend’s choice, Japanese Style Neapolitan Spaghetti
(Ham, Mushroom, Onion, Red Pepper, Special Tomato Ketchup Sauce)

My macaroni gratin was OK. It tasted good, but the white sauce was a bit watery than I thought. Thinking about cooking myself, I appreciate they have it on the menu, though.

My friend didn’t like her spaghetti much. I think the tomato sauce wasn’t seasoned well.

One of my friends contacted me that we should get together. As we usually meet up with our common friends when we do so, I suggested him contact the others. Only one friend was available for that day. Well, three of us plus my friend’s baby (almost 3-yrs-old) got together. I invited Collin, too, since we all went to the same school, although he’d never met my friends.

As I thought a mom has to do a lot before going out, I suggested to go to this restaurant where she sometimes goes there because it is close to her house. Cafe de l’Orangerie serves Japanese style of Italian or French food. They are located on Granville street close to Richmond.

We ordered from their weekly specials and regular menu.

Chai Latte (that she thinks… I asked her before writing this post, but she didn’t remember.)

My hashed beef stew was quite huge! I was so full even after 5 hours. My friend said Chicken Nanban was the one that she always ordered. 🙂 I didn’t taste it, so I don’t know if it’s good or not. Collin ordered the exact same one as last time, even though I recommended a few different dishes.

As I mentioned in the previous post, my friend bought some cake and brought to Maruchu Japanese BBQ Dining for my birthday. The cake was from Cafe de l’Orangerie.

They are located on Granville street close to Richmond. They serve Japanese style of Italian or French food as well as sells dessert, such as cake. I don’t know if you know that we do eat Christmas cake on Christmas day in Japan (maybe only when you’re a child). The shape is not only a log, but also rounded one like a birthday cake.

She bought a log shape one for my birthday. :) Thank you, my friends!
