I went hiking to North Shore with my friends in August. As usual, we were talking about where to have lunch after hiking, and they asked me. I wasn’t sure if the place was open, but I suggested one on Hastings Street, where serves all breakfast. When we passed by, there was a line up outside the restaurant, and they said they didn’t want to wait. Alternatively, I suggested this place, although there might be waiting time.

We tried to see if there was a line up. The place was Kishimoto Japanese Kitchen + Sushi Bar. They are on Commercial Drive in Vancouver and serve Japanese food. Luckily, the waiting time wasn’t too bad, as we were seated at the counter.

We ordered from their lunch special menu. I didn’t take pictures of the others, since we were at the counter and I didn’t want to bother to move dish around.

Sushi & Sashimi Special
(3pc Tuna & 2pc Salmon Sashimi, 1 Ebi, 1 Salmon, 1 Tuna Nigiri, 4pc California Roll, 4pc BC Roll, Salad, Miso Soup)

When I read it on the menu, it looked a big meal as lunch, but when it came, I didn’t think it was big. Yet, when I finished, it totally filled my stomach. 😀

Their lunch menu is not so interesting as much. It basically is a combination of Karaage, Gyoza, Udon, or Sushi, or Donburi, which is rice bowl with something on top.

At the last time when Collin and I went to this restaurant, there was a long waiting list, and he couldn’t wait, so that we left for another Sushi place. This time on his day-off at the end of July, he seemed to have a craving for their Sushi and asked me to go there for dinner.

Kishimoto Japanese Kitchen + Sushi Bar is a casual Japanese restaurant on Commercial Drive in Vancouver. They serve Sushi, decorating beautifully.

We ordered from Sushi menu. He chose rolls and I chose Nigiri. I ordered some Nigiri for him as well, because those were rare fish and I wanted him to taste.

Salmon Oshisushi
(Pressed Sushi with Sockeye Salmon, Creamy Sauce & Jalapeno)

I have heard this Oshizushi is so tasty, so I had to go for it, although I can’t eat Jalapeno. Both of us really liked this! The salmon and creamy sauce melted in your mouth.

Nigiri Sushi
(2 Amaebi, 2 Tai (Sea bream), Toro, 2 Hirame (Flounder))

Tai and Hirame were on Specials. He didn’t like either of them. Those seem like slimy to him. Oh, I loved them all! He ordered Dynamite roll to refresh his mouth. 😀

Here is dessert.

We liked both ice cream. Of course, he preferred Yuzu one.

I saw the to-go menu updates on their Facebook page last month and noticed pricing went up again.

We went out for lunch with his mom and grandma, and when we came home, Collin said he didn’t want to cook but would go get some food. Since he said he was going to Commercial Drive, I asked to get some Sushi.

He got Sushi from Kishimoto Japanese Kitchen + Sushi Bar. The restaurant is a few blocks away from Commercial-Broadway station. They are almost always busy, so to-go might be a good idea.
