As my friend told me that she would attend Nikkei Centre Craft & Bake Fair in November, I headed to the place. There were lots of people selling their crafts or food that they made, and I thought some were even good gifts for Christmas. Anyways, our other friend also went to help her, so we decided to have some bites, while she was still selling her stuff.

There is a Japanese restaurant (more like a school cafeteria), Hi Genki, at the next door of Nikkei Centre. The entrance is at Nikkei Home where senior Japanese (maybe not only Japanese) people live and are taken care of. Because of the fair, we had to wait for 40 min, and by the time when we ordered, it was 3:00 pm!

We ordered from Today’s Special menu. We both chose Teishoku.

When we were walking toward our seats, we looked around what the others ordered. I can’t believe how big the curry dish was! Huge! I had to go out for dinner, so I didn’t order, though.

One of my friends went to Japan for a month and came back, so we decided to meet up with the other common friend. The common friend picked this restaurant. I’ve heard their food is good, so I was excited to go there. Hanwoori Korean Restaurant is one and half block away from the intersection of Imperial street and Kingsway in Burnaby.

As both I and my friends were not familiar with Korean cuisine, we took long time to decide what to order. It was a bit cold day as November, so we chose a hot soup. I can’t remember if the soup or bulgogi was with combo, anyways, we ordered one of them as a combo.

I liked the pancake. Kimchi Jiigae soup was really spicy for me, but the taste was good. We all were not so much fun of the bulgogi. It was too sweet.

My friend sent me a text to go out for dinner, and we were thinking where we should go. She said there was a Japanese restaurant in Burnaby close to where we were, so we just headed. When we arrived, the restaurant name was different from what she was talking about. Anyways, we decided to try.

Tairyou ichiba is on Kingsway, probably in a walking distance from Patterson Skytrain station. The restaurant reminds me of old Izakaya style, where customers and owner are so close to talk each other (usually owner just nods or has small talk) and customers just order loudly towards the owner from the table.

We ordered a few things and shared them.

Their Sushi menu is reasonable, as they charge $1.00 per Nigiri Sushi. (Not daily special one.) And, if they are open for lunch, I would like to try that, too.
